Upgrading the RAM on the Packard Bell BG45-U-300

In this video I show you how to upgrade the ram on the Packard Bell BG45-U-300 it comes standard with 1GB of ram but that’s not enough for a happy (if there is such a thing) VISTA experience.

To make things easier I recommend having a philips (cross threaded) and a flat screw driver to hand.

Packard Bell Easynote BG45-U-300 Hard drive removal

I’ve been asked how to replace the hard drive in an Easynote BG45-U-300 so here is a quick guide that I have put together. Remember to re-install your operating system on the new hard drive you will need an external USB DVD drive. Also if you haven’t created restore DVDs yet you better get on that because you will need them if you don’t have another copy of Vista installation media.

Step 1

Remove battery and locate the screws circled below

Step 2

Remove the 3 screws with a small Philips head screw drivier

P4051129

Step 3

Next use a flat head screw driver to lift the cover

P4051128

Step 4

Lift the cover off by squeezing your finger in. Don’t be afraid to give it a good yank its quite stiff

P4051130

Step 5

OK you are in. Ease the hard disk out by pulling on the tab.

P4051131

Step 6

Once the drive is out you will see the power connector and SATA II connector take note of which way these go round.

P4051132

Step 7

Remove the drive from the internal caddie by unscrewing the 2 screws on each side.

P4051134

Step 8

Replace the old drive with your new one, screw it back into the caddie and then slide it back into the laptop. Its a little fiddly popping it back in so take care and be patient don’t force it in.

There! I hope this helps. Replace the cover and screw it up! That’s it. Hard drive replaced.

Packard Bell Easynote BG45-U-300 Overview

If you’ve read through my blog you may of noticed that I own one of these little budget laptops. I originally had an ASUS 701 then a 901. The BG45 just stomps all over them.

If you have recently re-installed your Easynote BG45-U-300 and accidently deleted your restore partition. You will need the following download to get your hotkeys working again. Once you download the file unpack the rar file then install the driver in ATK first then one in ATKAPP you may have to reboot once finished.

If you need any help with the Easynote just leave me a comment and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
