List of Commands for adding Launchers in Avant Window Navigator (AWN)

awn-settings.png

This is a list of commands that can be copied and pasted into the Avant Window Navigator settings tool. You will have to pick an appropriate icon to go with the command. I would recommend sticking themed icons. I got fed up of adding icons to the desktop and then viewing the properties to copy the command.

Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Ibex

Its nearly time for the new mainstream release of the Ibex. I always try out the new versions of Ubuntu as they come out and over time it has been an interesting ride. I always seem to switch to Linux for a week or so and then drop back to XP. Anyways… I’ve installed the beta and what do I think? Well I like it - I’m certainly a fan of new Darkroom theme and I have always enjoyed playing around with the graphical effects. That can’t be the only reason that I was tempted right? Well to be honest I think it was but hey there is nothing wrong with eye candy!

Seriously though I think switching operating systems has to be up there on the difficulty scale with quitting smoking… but I managed that so surely I can manage quitting XP / Vista?

The default applications line up is impressive though… Openoffice, Firefox and The Gimp to name but a few. It only takes another few minutes to add some extras such as the restricted extras and VLC to play pretty much any media file you have. I have to admit as well Ubuntu is true to its word it is Linux for Humans. You really don’t have to be a techy to get going and the online community that supports Ubuntu is superb… not sure how todo something just Google it.

Can I make the switch……..? Only time will tell.
